Dover Christ Church Academy is a vibrant fast-paced Academy and students are able to utilise state of the art vocational facilities alongside an inspirational learning environment. Within our Academy we are proud to include the Secondary Aspen 2 School provision with strong links to the primary Aspen 1, which is based in Whitfield and Aspen Primary School.

The school is passionate about raising aspirations and achievement of all its students and provide the best possible outcomes for all of the pupils. We are seeking to employ an excellent teacher who is passionate about SEN and can demonstrate a high standard of teaching and learning, particularly with learners with profound, severe or complex needs, but also to work alongside colleagues in the mainstream provision of the school, sharing the responsibility for ensuring the provision achieves excellent outcomes for the benefit of all students.

All applicants should have a good understanding of teaching students functioning the ability range P1 to NC levels. They will appreciate the importance of working alongside a wide range of professionals in sharing goals for pupils and have positive communication skills. They should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of implementation of the Code of Practice and share the school's vision for inclusive learning.

This is an exciting opportunity to appoint an outstanding practitioner to join the Senior Leadership team at a time of significant improvement and growth for the Academy. We are now looking for an individual with a capacity to lead our excellent pastoral care teams through system change to effect even higher levels of progress.

You will have a key responsibility in managing welfare and raising achievement through the pastoral teams in Years 7-11 and lead a shift in working practices to bring greater focus upon academic progress.

Key aspects of your role will include:

  • safeguarding the welfare of our young people and improving their motivation

A unique opportunity to further support and develop subject knowledge mastery in Science and the Humanities, the University and their sponsor Academy are seeking to appoint two subject experts who will further support the development, teaching and embedding of subject excellence in these two curriculum areas.

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate deep pedagogical subject knowledge, excellent teaching and learning and proven capacity for coaching and mentoring.

The University sponsored Academy is oversubscribed in the forthcoming Year 7 and growing rapidly. We are embarking on an ambitious and innovative programme of pedagogical and curriculum development, including the implementation of the IBCP at post 16.

We are looking for courageous leadership to support the development of standout teaching, through modelling of curriculum planning and delivery of innovative teaching methodologies.

The applicants will be supported through the University’s commitment to research informed practice and the applicants will be required to engage in a funded programme of research at the appropriate level to their current experience (Masters or Doctoral or Postdoctoral)

Those appointed to these posts will be required to support the delivery of ITT and CPD at both the University sponsor Academy and at the University, through our Undergraduate and Postgraduate Teacher development programmes.

Those appointed will be expected to split their time 60:40 between their Academy and University work. They will be line managed by the AVP Teaching and Learning at the Academy and mentored by a Senior Leader in the University.

Salary will be agreed at an appropriate level in band of £39K-£59K (Lead Practitioner Pay Scale)

The Science Department at the Academy prides itself in delivering high quality teaching and learning. Students enjoy learning more about the world of Science and as a result behaviour is positive across all years. Students are well driven and want to achieve to their maximum potential. We currently teach KS3 to KS5 with a mixture of AQA GCSE courses running in addition to Level 2 and 3 BTEC courses. The Science Department consists of 5 teaching staff, with a range of experience from trainee teacher to Leadership, with specialisms across the three separate sciences. Day to day support is provided to the whole department by our Science Technician.

We are seeking the following specialist science teacher:

Chemistry specialist Key Stage 3/4 - a full time teacher of science with a specialism of chemistry required to teach the most able students targeted an A-B grade to teaching KS3, KS4 AQA trilogy science and separate chemistry GCSE as well a potentially some level 3 BTEC lessons to KS5.

The ideal candidate will

  • Be an outstanding engaging teacher with a proven record of successful results.
  • Ideally be experienced in teaching different elements of the science curriculum as a science generalist.
  • Be experienced in tracking student progress across key stages and lead intervention for students who are not making expected progress.
